A bar cart is a good alternative to a console. I have been seeing lots of bar carts in vintage gold or brass. I wish I could actually use it for its intended purpose but with 2 small kiddos moving around, most likely not the in next 20 years.
I am using my bar cart to hold magazines on the bottom and to display table top decor such as candles and coasters on top.
